A midday house fire in Mira Mesa caused an estimated $300,000 worth of property losses and displaced a family of four Thursday, authorities reported.
No one was in the two-story house in the 11300 block of Spitfire Road when flames began spreading through it for unknown reasons shortly before 12:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
It took crews about a half-hour to subdue the non-injury blaze, SDFRD spokeswoman Monica Munoz said.
The American Red Cross was called in to help the two adults and two children who live in the home arrange for emergency shelter.
The cause of the fire, which caused about $200,000 in structural damage and destroyed roughly $100,000 worth of contents, was under investigation.
