A fire of unknown origin tore through a house in the Skyline area Wednesday afternoon, causing an estimated $350,000 worth of damage.
The non-injury blaze in the 7000 block of Tuther Way erupted for unknown reasons shortly before 1 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
It took firefighters about 25 minutes to gain control of the flames, which also spread to patches of brush at the top of a canyon immediately behind the home.
Though the owner of the house told authorities no one was currently residing there, the blaze appeared to have originated in an enclosed rear gazebo in which someone was living, SDFRD spokeswoman Monica Munoz said.
The monetary losses were set at roughly $200,000 to the structure and $150,000 to contents. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
