A woman was found suffering from gunshot wounds Thursday at the bottom of a beach stairway near Sunset Cliffs Natural Park.
A passer-by spotted the victim off the foot of Ladera Street about 7 a.m., according to San Diego police.
Medics took the woman, who is in her early 20s, to UCSD Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition, SDPD public-affairs Officer Billy Hernandez said.
The circumstances of the shooting were unclear, and investigators did not immediately have a description of the assailant or assailants, Hernandez said.
