A collision on a Mira Mesa street killed a motorist Friday and left her 4-year-old son gravely injured, authorities reported.
The 27-year-old woman suffered fatal injuries when her Acura Legend was struck by a westbound Honda Accord as she was pulling out of a driveway at an apartment complex in the 7200 block of Calle Cristobal shortly after 7 a.m., according to San Diego police. Her name was withheld pending family notification.
Medics took her son, who had been riding in a child safety seat, to a trauma center for treatment of life-threatening injuries, including a fractured skull, a broken pelvis, a fractured knee and broken ribs, Officer Tony Martinez said.
The 26-year-old driver of the Honda complained of pain to his lower back, Martinez said.
It was unclear who was at fault in the accident.
