A multi-vehicle crash Friday morning has closed all westbound lanes of Interstate 8 in the mountains just east of Pine Valley, authorities said.

The collision was reported a little after 9:10 a.m. when a sedan crossed from westbound lanes into eastbound lanes on the interstate and struck a delivery truck, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log. Caltrans San Diego reported at 9:30 a.m. that all westbound lanes were blocked.

Witnesses told CHP dispatchers the head-on collision happened when a Toyota Camry crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a box truck, according to the incident log. Witnesses said the driver of the Camry was trapped in his vehicle and appeared injured.

CHP officers, paramedics and tow trucks were dispatched to the scene, but no other information was immediately available.
