A Southcrest man was behind bars Tuesday for allegedly carrying out armed holdups at a Midway-area sex shop and, less than 24 hours later, a convenience store in City Heights.
San Diego police arrested 27-year-old Alejandro Peinado at his home in the 1500 block of South 43rd Street on Monday, SDPD Lt. Eric Hays said.
“A search of the residence yielded evidence linking Peinado to the robberies, including a .22-caliber rifle,” Hays said.
Peinado allegedly brandished a long-barreled gun while robbing Adult Depot, 4055 Pacific Highway, about an hour before sunrise Feb. 8, and during a subsequent heist early the next day at a 7-Eleven in the 4900 block of University Avenue.
The perpetrator fled the scenes of the crimes in a dark-colored Nissan Sentra or similar car with black wheels and a broken driver’s-side window, police reported.
The suspect was being held on $50,000 bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
