A parolee who killed his ex-girlfriend in a motorhome parked on a residential property in Vista was sentenced Friday to 75 years to life in prison plus nine years.
Nathan Carmello Rivera, 43, was convicted of first-degree murder in the Nov. 18, 2016, death of 49-year-old Donna Hixon.
Sheriff’s deputies responding to a reported assault on La Rueda Road found Hixon dead in the motorhome. An autopsy revealed that she had been strangled.
Rivera was booked into jail the night after Hixon was killed on suspicion of auto theft, and was later rebooked on the murder charge.
