A 33-year-old man was seriously injured when he was hit by a car while running across lanes on a San Marcos street, authorities said Saturday.
The crash was reported at 7:28 p.m. Friday on South Rancho Santa Fe Road just north of First Street, said sheriff’s Deputy Tammy Bennetts.
The pedestrian was running west on South Rancho Santa Fe Road toward the center median when he was struck by a northbound 1994 Honda Accord driven by a 22-year-old man, Bennetts said.
San Marcos Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and took the pedestrian to Palomar Medical Center with serious injuries.
Alcohol is not a factor in the crash, Bennetts said.
