Authorities Wednesday released the name of a man found fatally stabbed near the mouth of the San Luis Rey River on New Year’s Day.
Patrol officers responding to an emergency call discovered David Viars, 33, mortally wounded in the 1100 block of North Coast Highway in Oceanside about 11:45 p.m. Monday, according to police.
Medics took the Oceanside resident to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have disclosed no suspected motive for the slaying and have announced no arrests in the case.
