Police Monday were investigating an altercation at a late night Christmas Eve holiday party during which five family members were stabbed.

The incident occurred at 11:55 p.m. in the 1100 block of Surf Crest Drive, San Diego Police Sgt. Edward Zwibel said.

“During a holiday party, a physical fight took place between family members,” Zwibel said. “One of the family members used broken bottles and glass to stab a total of five victims.”

There was no information available on the severity of the injuries.

Zwibel said the suspect was known by the victims and was identified by them.

San Diego Police Department Southern Division detectives were investigating.
