A couple were inside their home on the 4600 block of Dwight Street when they heard a man pounding on the front door at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.

The suspect broke a window, reached in and opened the front door, Heims said. He then entered the house and confronted the two residents.

The man who owned the home stabbed the suspect in the stomach and then ran out of the house with the suspect chasing him.

When police arrived, they arrested Gustavo Fernandez, 23, Heims said. Fernandez was transported to a hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
