An undercover law enforcement sting targeting “Johns” looking to buy sex netted 13 arrests in San Diego County, according to sheriff’s officials.

Dubbed “Operation Big Bad John,” the May 26 sting spearheaded by the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force along with the National City Police Department involved more than 75 law enforcement officers from various local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Police operations targeting Johns typically involve officers posing as prostitutes, although sheriff’s officials did not disclose how the arrests were made or where Friday’s snares took place.

In addition to the arrests, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported that more than 17 grams of methamphetamine and several
ecstasy pills were seized during the operation.
