A man waiting for his girlfriend outside a Mission Valley clinic Tuesday afternoon was stabbed in the face by a patient of the facility for unknown reasons, suffering a disfiguring but non-lethal wound.
The victim was sitting in his car at the treatment center in the 7500 block of Metropolitan Drive about 3:30 p.m. when the assailant approached and stabbed him between the eyes, according to San Diego police. The attacker then fled in a red vehicle, Officer John Buttle said.
Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of a wound that was not life-threatening but was expected to require plastic surgery.
The assailant, whose identity is known by police, remained at large as of early evening. It was unclear if he and the victim had any sort of relationship prior to the assault, Buttle said.
