A motorist given a parking ticket on a La Jolla street Wednesday used his car to ram the offending lawman’s three-wheeled scooter, knocking it over and leaving the officer with minor injuries, police said.
The confrontation took place in the 800 block of Prospect Street shortly after noon, according to San Diego police. After allegedly using his red convertible to deliberately topple the small parking-enforcement vehicle, the motorist drove off, Officer Tony Martinez said.
Medics treated the victim at the scene for superficial injuries.
Later in the afternoon, the driver, with an attorney by his side, turned himself in a short distance from the site of the crash. The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was taken into custody for questioning, Martinez said.
