San Diego Police had sought the public’s help identifying a teenage bicyclist who was struck by an SUV on Christmas Eve, but the young rider’s family has found him, according to an SDPD tweet Wednesday night.

“THANK YOU all for the help. We’ve been able to re-unite this 16 year old with his family. Keep them in your prayers,” the tweet read.

The teenage man was riding a mountain bike and not wearing a helmet when he was struck by a black Chevrolet Trailblazer at Imperial Avenue and South 47th Street.

He suffered a serious head injury and was not carrying identification. The victim is currently being treated at Scripps Mercy Hospital.

Police released a hospital photo in an attempt to re-unite the victim with his family.

Anyone who had information about the possible identity of the victim was asked to call police.
