A fiery crash on state Route 67 in Lakeside Monday sparked a small brush fire and snarled traffic.
A SUV slammed into the back of a cement mixer and a pole just before it veered off the highway north of Slaughterhouse Canyon Road and caught fire around 9 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. No injuries were reported.
The crash and the brush fire it caused prompted authorities to close the southbound lanes, but one lane has since been reopened, according to the CHP.
Delays were reported in the area and motorists were detoured onto Scripps Poway Parkway, according to Caltrans.
