Firefighters made quick work of a small brush fire along the shoulder of State Route 163 in Linda Vista Saturday afternoon.
The call came in at about 2:20 p.m. for a fire between Linda Vista Road and the freeway, near the Mesa College Drive on-ramp, according to Lee Swanson of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes and did not grow any larger than about three-quarters of an acre, Swanson said. It briefly threatened an apartment building but firefighters kept it from spreading that far.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
