San Diego lifeguards rescued two people Saturday who were in distress off the coast of La Jolla.

One person was on a surfboard, the other was on a boogie board, and neither was injured, said Lt. Rick Romero of the San Diego Lifeguard Services.

Shortly after 10 a.m., both people were about 200 yards from the shore near Marine Street when they waved for help, Romero said.

One lifeguard swam out to help one distressed surfer, while a second lifeguard used a Jet Ski to rescue the other, Romero added.

Further information on their condition was not available.
