A brushfire that broke out Sunday afternoon southeast of Julian was about 25 percent contained, Cal Fire officials said.

The blaze was reported as a 2-to-3-acre vegetation fire at about 1 p.m., but had grown to six acres in about an hour, Cal Fire said.

“The crew is making good progress,” Cal Fire tweeted about an hour after the fire was reported.

“Forward rate of spread stopped at 6 acres,” Cal Fire tweeted about two hours into the effort. The fire was in the 36000 block of Mountain Circle Drive.

There were no reports of injuries, and no immediate word on whether structures were threatened. The cause of the fire had not been released by Cal Fire.
