A middle-of-the-night shooting in Oceanside left one man dead and his assailant at large Saturday.

Oceanside police were called to the 800 block of Langford Street at about 2 a.m., where there were multiple reports of gunshots in the area, Officer Ryan Keim said.

The victim was described as an Oceanside man in his 20’s, and was found by officers collapsed on the porch of an upstairs apartment. He had made it to the porch on his own after being shot nearby and was given first aid by the officers, Keim said.

Paramedics could not revive the victim, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been shot multiple times, according to Keim.

Detectives from the Oceanside Police Department‘s Crimes of Violence unit were investigating the shooting. They did not release a description of the suspect.
