Firefighters made quick work of a small brush fire that started Saturday in a center divide on state Route 94 West near the Interstate 5.

Crews were called out to the highway at 3:54 p.m. in response to the fire, San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said.

According to an earlier report by California Highway Patrol, a tree caught on fire, but it was unclear how the fire started. One lane on the SR-94 remained closed as of 4:15 p.m., according to the CHP.
