Thirty-four citations were issued at a driver’s license/sobriety checkpoint Saturday in Escondido, a police lieutenant said Sunday.

Of the 34 citations, 25 were issued to unlicensed drivers, seven for motorists driving with a suspended license and nine for motorists driving without any insurance, according to Escondido police Lt. Mike Kearney. Nine vehicles were also impounded.

The checkpoint took place Saturday in the area of Valley Parkway and Juniper Street, Kearney said.
