A man known as the “Hipster Bandit” attempted to rob Wells Fargo and Union Banks in Oceanside Wednesday afternoon, according to the FBI.

The first robbery attempt happened at the Wells Fargo inside the Vons grocery store, said FBI Special Agent Darrel Foxworth. It happened at about 2:12 p.m. on Wednesday at 845 College Blvd., Oceanside. The “Hipster Bandit” slipped the bank teller a note demanding cash. When the teller refused to give him money, the man left.
Then, at about 2:20 p.m. the “Hipster Bandit” went to the Ralphs grocery store at 101 Old Grove Road, Oceanside. Foxworth said he repeated the same method at the Union Bank. This time he was able to rob the bank. After stealing a sum of money, the “Hipster Bandit” walked away.
The “Hipster Bandit” is believed to drive a black motorcycle, said Foxworth. He was also seen wearing a black helmet and jacket.
According to the FBI, the suspect is in his mid 20s to early 30s and 5’3” to 5’5” tall. They estimated his weight at about 110 to 140 pounds. He is white and thin with brunette hair. There appears to be a tattoo on his left upper arm.
