A tour bus reportedly carrying members of rockabilly band The Reverend Horton Heat caught fire this morning on Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton.

The occupants were able to get out of the bus as it went up in flames shortly after 4 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Las Pulgas Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. Military firefighters were summoned to subdue the blaze.

Band members, in a post on Reverend Horton Heat’s Facebook page, said the inside of the bus “filled with smoke in less than a minute” after it was first noticed.

“It was scary at first but the Camp Pendleton guys got their firefighters over to us pretty quick. Thanks to them, not much of anything got ruined,” the message read.

The burned bus and firefighters temporarily blocked two southbound lanes in the area, according to the CHP.

The Reverend Horton Heat is scheduled to play tonight at the Belly Up in Solana Beach. Band members told 10News the show would go on.
