An investigation was underway Wednesday into a fire that gutted a Fallbrook home with a history of law enforcement and medical calls — one day after its residents were evicted.
The non-injury blaze erupted for unknown reasons at the recently vacated home in the 200 block of North Stage Coach Lane, near East Alvarado Street, around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, sheriff’s Detective Arnold Van Lingen said.
It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the blaze, which left the residence a complete loss, according to the North County Fire Protection District. The sheriff’s department’s Bomb/Arson Unit was summoned to investigate, authorities said.
Van Lingen said the home’s last residents were evicted the day before the fire, which is deemed suspicious. He noted that sheriff’s deputies and paramedics had previously been sent to the home.
Anyone with additional information on the fire or who may have seen something out of place in the moments before it started was asked to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
