A 24-year-old woman suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol was seriously injured in a car crash in the Valencia Park neighborhood this morning, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The crash occurred at 12:10 a.m. in the 5300 Imperial Avenue, SDPD Officer Robert Heims said.
She was driving her Nissan Sentra west on Imperial Avenue when she suddenly crossed over into the eastbound lanes and slammed into a parked truck, Heims continued.
The woman suffered a tear in her aorta and had blood in her lungs, Heims said. She was taken to a hospital and expected to survive.
Alcohol was believed to be a factor in this crash. Anyone with information can call the SDPD at (619) 531-2000.
