A pedestrian was struck by a trolley at a Mission Valley transit depot Monday and remained pinned underneath it until emergency crews were able to free him and get him to medical care.

The light-rail tram hit the man in the 1200 block of Fashion Valley Road about 1:45 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

It took firefighters about 15 minutes to free the victim from under the front of the trolley, after which medics took him to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest, SDFRD Capt. Joe Amador said.

Details on the type and extent of the unidentified patient’s injuries were not released.
