Fire ravaged an apartment building on the Alliant University in San Diego on Saturday evening, causing a non-fatal injury to a firefighter.

The blaze, which went to two alarms, was reported at 6 p.m. in Building 22 on the campus at 10455 Pomerado Road, according to Capt. Joe Amador, public information officer with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

A second alarm was called at 6:40 p.m. and five minutes later firefighters “went defensive,” battling the flames from outside the structure, Amador said.

It was not immediately clear if the firefighter required a trip to a hospital.
