The Sheriff’s department has arrested a man and woman who followed an Amazon.com truck in Encinitas on Tuesday and stole packages on its delivery route.

The truck was driving in Encinitas at about 3 pm, when its driver noticed it was being followed by a Dodge Charger, according to a news statement from the San Diego Sheriff’s department.

The driver then noticed one of the car’s occupants would get out of the car and take packages after he dropped them off, said the Sheriff’s department.

After observing this, the driver called 9-1-1 and kept their dispatcher updated, according to the Sheriff’s department. The deputies were then able to locate the vehicle and arrest the occupants.

The Sheriff’s department said they found several packages from the Amazon truck as well as suspected methamphetamine, heroin, stolen mail from 13 different people and a loaded handgun.

The suspects, Kristina Green and Gary Withers, were identified by the Sheriff’s department as local residents of San Diego, who were already on probation for theft, narcotics and weapons violations.

An investigation is underway to determine if there are any additional victims. Green and Withers are booked on a multitude of charges including mail theft, possession of various drugs, felon possession of firearm and possession of stolen property, according to the Sheriff’s department.
