Authorities asked the public on Wednesday for help in identifying a motorist who fled after her car struck and badly injured a toddler on a Mira Mesa street.

The hit-and-run collision occurred early on the afternoon of Nov. 29, when the 2-year-old boy rode a scooter away from his parents at Mesa Viking Park and crossed into the path of a late 1990s-model Honda Accord in the 11200 block of Westonhill Drive, according to police.

After the teal-colored sedan hit the child, the motorist, who appeared to be in her 60s, continued on to the north and left the area. Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information on the identity or location of the driver or her vehicle was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477, or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
