A man was facing charges Tuesday for allegedly breaking into the Lakeside River Park Conservancy, taking a laptop, dismantling an alarm system and scattering food around the office — although he did offer to clean up when he was finished.

Conservancy employees first noticed their office on Industry Road near Winter gardens Boulevard had been broken into around 8 a.m. Sunday. They reviewed surveillance footage and saw a man — later identified as 27-year-old Joshua Parnell — tampering with the security system and wandering around the office while eating food taken from the refrigerator, sheriff’s Sgt. Tim Chantler said.

The following morning, the employees arrived to find Parnell standing in the kitchen area drinking tea, Chantler said.

Parnell allegedly told the office workers he had come in through a window, and he offered to clean up, Chantler said.

Responding deputies arrested Parnell without incident. Conservancy employees estimated the damage he allegedly caused at $600, according to the sergeant.
