One person was killed and two others were seriously injured Thursday in a head-on crash involving a pair of SUVs in Chula Vista.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an SUV being driven in the northbound lane of state Route 125 at San Miguel Ranch Road crossed over the center divider around 10:15 a.m. and collided with a southbound SUV. The two vehicles came to rest in the far left southbound lane.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other people were airlifted to hospitals with serious injuries, CHP Officer Robert Catano said.
The onramp from state Route 54 to the 125 was closed in both directions to accommodate the investigation.
