A small aircraft, possibly towing an advertising banner, crashed into the ocean next to the Carlsbad power plant Saturday. A witness told a San Diego TV station, 10News, that a child was seen being loaded onto an ambulance after the crash. That report was not confirmed. Pictures from the scene showed a single engine plane, upside down in shallow water, on a crowded beach.

The crash was reportedly just after 3 p.m. in the surf, at the 4600 block of Carlsbad Boulevard. That location was near the “warm water jetty” in the ocean, north of Cannon Road, in Carlsbad.
