No charges will be filed against three people who were accused of kidnapping a family member from a religious group in Vista, authorities said Monday.
Andrews Martinez-Manso, 51, and Eliza Martinez and Robert Harry Matthew, both 25, were arrested following a pursuit and traffic stop on June 5.
The trio told police that they “rescued” 23-year-old Robert Martinez from brainwashing at the Twelve Tribes Community Church.
Martinez-Manso, Martinez and Matthew bailed out of jail and were ordered to return to court Monday, but no charges will be filed in the case, said Tanya Sierra, a spokeswoman for the District Attorney’s Office.
The Twelve Tribes is a Christian group that has followers living at a ranch in Valley Center and a smaller community in Vista.
