A fight in the parking lot of an IHOP restaurant in Spring Valley left one man jailed and another hospitalized with stab wounds, a sheriff’s sergeant said Friday.

The two men began fighting outside the eatery at 8747 Broadway around 11 p.m. Thursday, according to sheriff’s Sgt, Jeremy Sheppard. It was not immediately clear what the fight was about.

At some point during the altercation, the suspect stabbed the victim and ran away, Sheppard said.

Deputies dispatched to the restaurant found the suspect a few blocks away and arrested him, he said. Paramedics took the wounded man to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
