Seven motorists were arrested for drunken driving and seven vehicles were impounded during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in Pacific Beach.
The checkpoint in the 2600 block of Ingraham Street began at 11 p.m. Friday and ended Saturday at 3 a.m., according to San Diego Police officer Mark McCullough.
McCullough said 731 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with 634 of those motorists being screened by officers.
San Diego-area law-enforcement agencies are taking advantage of state and federal grants to step up enforcement driving safety.
