A body was found in an isolated area in Fallbrook near the car that was being driven by a missing Riverside man, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department announced.

The body was found near De Luz Road shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, close to where the 76-year-old Robert Ernest Cricks’s car was found but sheriff’s deputies did not make a positive identification.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will provide positive identification of the body at a later date.

Cricks was reported missing early Thursday morning from the area of Winchester and Murrieta Hot Springs roads, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, which said he apparently drove off after his wife left him waiting in their car while she stepped out to run a quick errand.

Search and rescue teams combed the Fallbrook area early Monday for a missing 76-year-old Murrieta man.

Cricks suffers from severe dementia. He is white, 5 feet 11 and 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black ball cap with military pins, a blue jacket, a long sleeve blue shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about Cricks’ whereabouts was asked to call the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at (951) 696-3119.
