An El Cajon man was arrested Monday on suspicion of waving a gun at another motorist during a road-rage outburst on Interstate 15.
A witness made a 911 call shortly after 8:30 a.m. to report seeing a driver brandishing a pistol while heading north in the carpool lane in the area of Carroll Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The caller gave a description of the allegedly armed man and his truck, and provided a dispatcher with the license plate number.
Officers caught up with the suspect, 47-year-old David Boswell Inniss of El Cajon, in Escondido and pulled him over, finding a handgun in his vehicle, CHP public-affairs Officer Jake Sanchez said.
Inniss was booked into county jail on suspicion of brandishing a firearm and carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle, the officer said.
It was unclear what prompted the suspect’s allegedly threatening behavior.
