The student was walking to La Presa Middle School about 8:50 a.m. Monday, when a van drove up at Orville and Maclay streets and the side door opened and two men dressed in black tried to get the student into the van, said Sgt. Pat McEvoy of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The student ran and safely reached the school and the van fled east on Orville.

The suspects were believed to be white and in their 20s, McEvoy said.

The sex of the student was not made available.
