Lifeguards had to use a crane apparatus Thursday to rescue two teenage boys who jumped off a roughly 30-foot bluff into the ocean at Sunset Cliffs and became stranded in a rocky pool.
The emergency near the terminus of Froude Street was reported shortly before 11:30 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
It took lifeguards about a half-hour to get both boys out of the surf and back onto solid ground, SDFRD Capt. Joe Amador said. The uninjured youths were turned over to police for questioning, since it is illegal to jump off sea bluffs in the city.
