An Escondido man is behind bars Saturday after failing to yield for police during a traffic stop for a stolen vehicle, Carlsbad police said.
Shortly before 1 a.m., Carlsbad Police tried to conduct a traffic stop for a stolen vehicle. The suspected driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Sean Taylor, did not yield to police and officers pursued the vehicle for a short distance, police said.
The suspect then pulled over at the intersection of Buena Vista Way and Davis Avenue near the San Diego Freeway and fled eastbound across the freeway on foot, police said.
The Sheriff’s helicopter helped locate Taylor, who was hiding in the bushes on the east side of the San Diego Freeway near the northbound Las Flores off-ramp. When he was ordered to come out, he did not comply, police said, so a police canine was deployed to apprehend the suspect.
Taylor was taken to Tri-City Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries, police said. He was then taken to the Vista Detention Facility, facing multiple charges, including auto theft and evading a felony.
