A man was stabbed in downtown San Diego early Thursday, possibly by a transient who got away, police said.
The stabbing in the 200 block of Fifth Avenue was reported at 4:34 a.m., according to San Diego police Officer Frank Cali.
Paramedics took the victim to UCSD Medical Center, a San Diego fire- rescue dispatcher said. The extent of the wound was unclear.
Police described the suspect as a bald, 40-something white man around 5 feet 9 and 200 pounds, wearing a blue or brown shirt and white pants. He had the appearance of a homeless person, Cali said.
