A pedestrian walking along a freeway ramp east of downtown early Sunday was struck and killed by two hit-and-run drivers.
The victim, who was believed to be 26, was apparently struck by the two the vehicles on the ramp from eastbound State Route 94 to southbound State Route 15, according to the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
His body was spotted lying in the slow lane near a white sedan, as CHP officers and firefighters rolled up to the reported crash at about 3:45 a.m., according to the CHP and the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. It was unclear if the sedan was involved in the crash.
The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene shortly after 4 a.m., the Medical Examiner’s Office reported.
The crash prompted officers to close one lane of eastbound 94 starting at 30th Street, the 32nd Street onramp to east 94, and the connector ramp, CHP officials said. All were reopened shortly after 6:30 a.m.
