Residents in the Ramona area were asked Wednesday to keep an eye out for a 66-year-old man with Alzheimer’s disease who went missing earlier this week.
Carl Salayer was last seen Monday when he went to bed at his home in the 17000 block of Handlebar Road near Highland Valley Road. He apparently left between 2:30 and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s deputies said Salayer needs medicine, has a feeding tube and may be wearing only undergarments. He also might run if approached, authorities said.
Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Munsey said Salayer may have “hunkered down” somewhere in the vicinity and asked residents to check around their properties, including in sheds, bushes or other areas where a person could possibly hide.
Salayer is white, 6 feet 3 and 150 pounds with blue eyes, balding gray hair and a mustache.
Anyone who spots Salayer was asked to call the sheriff’s department at (858) 565-5200.
