Brush-Fire

Fire crews gained quick control of that small brush fire in the 8000 block of Broadway in Lemon Grove, according to Heartland Fire & Rescue.

The brush fire damaged a roughly 150-foot section of fence and burned some greenery next to it, causing about $2,000 worth of damage, according to Heartland Fire.

There are no immediate reports of structural damage or injuries.

There also were reports of explosions at the scene of the blaze, possibly due to damage to electrical transformers, but a fire department spokesman said they were unfounded.

Concerns have been heightened this fire season, which started early in May when several serious brush fires plagued San Diego during a week of intense hot and dry weather.

State officials warned it is likely to be a difficult and long fire season.
