The San Diego International Airport‘s new three-story parking deck at Terminal 2 is scheduled to open to travelers on Friday morning.
The new parking plaza has 2,900 parking stalls — more than half of them covered — and technology that helps drivers find available parking spaces or reserve them in advance. For electric-vehicle drivers, there are 16 charging ports.
The $128 million facility features open light wells, glass-front elevators and public art, including “Formation,” a series of brightly colored, cast resin plane models from different eras by Mark Reigelman.
The standard daily parking rate will be $32 per day.
Officials held a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday in advance of the actual opening. City Councilman Mark Kersey noted at the ceremony that the project was delivered on time and on budget.
