For the 37th consecutive holiday season, CBS Radio’s KyXy 96.5 FM has changed its format to continuous holiday music. And, Sam Bass has survived every one of them.

Since Bass began his on-air shifts at the station in March 1978, during the weeks leading up to Dec. 25, the station has switched to playing only Christmas favorites.

“I enjoy it for a few days, but the closer it gets to Christmas, the more eager I am to return to our regular format,” joked Bass.

Meanwhile, KFMB Jack 100.7 Jack FM has temporarily changed its moniker to “Jack Frost” and its programming to Christmas music. The exception is the “Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw” show, 6 to 10 a.m. weekdays, which will follow its regular programming.

Magic 92.5 Hosting ‘Wish-a-Thon’ on Wednesday

Mark and Kristi Jagger, hosts of “Jagger & Kristi in the Morning” heard on XHRM Magic 92.5 FM, will anchor the “Jagger & Kristi’s Christmas Wish-a-Thon,” along with producer Sammy Jo and the Magic 92.5 air staff, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Listeners will be encouraged during the 14 hours to make tax-deductible donations to the Magic 92.5 Foundation with all proceeds benefiting San Diego families who have been nominated by listeners to receive a “Christmas Wish” this holiday season. Notes from listeners will be read on the air often to the surprise of recipients since self-nominations are not accepted.

Donations can be made at www.Magic92.5.com or in person at three retail locations featuring station personalities, including Xavier the X-Man at Terra Nova Plaza in Chula Vista, Gene Knight at Westfield North County in Escondido and Randy Williams (aka R-Dub) at Westfield Mission Valley in San Diego.

In 2014, more than $17,000 was raised and 24 local families received a Christmas gift following the station’s inaugural Christmas Wish-A-Thon promotion.

Magic 92.5 is operated by Local Media San Diego LLC, a San Diego-based broadcasting company backed by Thoma Bravo LLC.
