The two firms that have been serving the broad communications needs of companies and organizations for four decades — Nuffer Smith Tucker since 1974 and Gable since 1976.
Led by Bill Trumpfheller and Tom Gable, the combined firm will operate under the Nuffer, Smith, Tucker name at the latter company’s office in downtown San Diego. The merged company will have 26 public relations professionals and annual billings of more than $3.5 million.
“We started talking about joining forces last year to pursue several large contracts where our complementary areas of expertise could make a difference for the client,” said Trumpfheller, who will be president of the combined company. “Evolving client needs and opportunities in new and emerging markets led us to explore the benefits of bringing the two firms together. It all added up.”
Gable, who will be vice chairman, said that as a result of the merger, “Our clients will benefit from having access to these additional resources, and our team adds strengths in other areas.”
