The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped 2.1 cents Thursday to $2.546, its lowest amount since May 18, 2009.
The average price is 9.3 cents less than one week ago, 32.3 cents lower than one month ago and $1.109 below what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price has dropped 10 consecutive days, decreasing 10.8 cents, including 2 cents on Wednesday.
The dropping pump prices are the result of wholesale gasoline prices declining “to their lowest level in nearly six years,” said Jeffrey Spring, the corporate communications manager of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
