There’s an all-star lineup for the 26th annual Point Loma Summer Concerts series
benefiting local youth music programs, offering five free weekly concerts July 10-Aug. 7 at
Point Loma Park.
Friday evening performances begin on the junior stage at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Main
Stage band kicking off at 6:30 p.m. The summer’s slate promises a good time for all.
The 2026 Point Loma Summer Concert Lineup:
- July 10: TLR – The Long Run, Experience the Eagles.
- July 17: Surf City AllStars – Beach Boys Tribute Band.
- July 24: The Bill Wells Band – Rock, Pop, R&B & Blues Cover Band.
- July 31: Liquid Blue – Pop & Rock Cover Band.
- Aug. 7: Swift Nation with The Sabrina Show – Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter
- tribute bands.
Nonprofit Point Loma Summer Concert board president Glenn Millar noted that, though concerts in the park are entirely free, staging them is not. Consequently, with inflation, Point Loma Summer Concerts is seeking donations to help offset the continually rising cost of staging the summer extravaganza.
Thus far, the appeal for donations is working.
“Our donations have gone up by about $20,000 in one week since we put our request out to
the community,” Millar said. “Five weeks away from the concerts starting, we’re looking to
raise another $20,000.”
Discussing what’s new this year, Millar said, “Last year, we had digital screens showing the
bands playing, and we’re going to have those again. But this year the screens are going to
show sponsors’ names. We didn’t have that last year.”
Also new this year will be the ability for guests to rent beach/camping chairs for $10, before
returning them at the end of each concert.
Regarding concert lineups, Millar noted Point Loma Summer Concert series has a policy promoting musical variety, allowing bands to perform two years in a row before taking a year off. Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter Tribute bands are the only performers repeating from 2025.
Raffle tickets for $5, 25 for $20, can be purchased on-site from sellers or at the information
booth, qualifying winners for several weekly prizes.
Staging the summer concert series is a year-round endeavor, noted Millar. But he added it’s
worthwhile for a good community cause.
“One hundred percent of proceeds from raffle tickets sold at the concerts themselves are
granted to local youth music programs,” he noted. “We gave nine grants for a total of
$16,500 to local youth music programs in 2025. All the donations from the raffle money go
into supporting the kids.”
The Point Loma Summer Concert series was begun by Bridget Cantu Wear, wife of former
City Council member Byron Wear of Point Loma, who was on the board of the Point Loma
Little League and “knew their field would be a perfect location for our concert series.”
Cantu Wear noted the first summer concert was The Navy Southwest Band, which drew
almost 300 people. Afterward, several community leaders took responsibility for creating
the concert series and the nonprofit to support it.
